Huffy has been the No. 1-selling bike brand in the United States for over 30 years and focuses on a wide variety of affordable bikes for all ages. Mongoose focuses on bicycle performance.

Huffy Mountain Bikes

Huffy manufactured its first bike in 1892 in Dayton, Ohio. It became the best-selling brand in 1976. Adult mountain bike models start around $75 and are primarily sold at discount retailer Wal-Mart.

Mongoose Mountain Bikes

Mongoose was founded in 1974 in Southern California and is a division of Dorel Industries. Its 2011 line of mountain bikes start at an MSRP of $869 and are sold at bike and outdoor shops nationwide. (All prices as of September 2010.)

Model Comparison

A top-of-the-line Huffy Black Widow comes with affordable Shimano components and retails for $139. At the top-selling end of the Mongoose line is the Teocali Mega with performance SRAM and Rock Shox components, and an MSRP of $3,749.
