Arizona has many opportunities for motorcycle camping. The Grand Canyon is well known and accepts motorcycles, and other remote campgrounds scattered around the state are perfect for motorcycle camping. Motorcycle campers will also find rallies and gatherings around the state.

Potential

Arizona is a rural state with long stretches of lonely desert roads. Motorcycles allow travelers to save gas and explore areas that cannot be reached with the large RVs that many campers bring to the state.

Benefits

Motorcycles are fuel efficient and simplify camping. Campers use minimal gear and do not have to worry about dumping waste, filling water reservoirs and supplying fuel to generators.

Warning

Motorcycle camping makes it difficult to escape the elements. Arizona weather can change in an instant and riding in adverse weather is uncomfortable.

Campgrounds

Arizona has campgrounds in mountain and desert environments. Motorcycle riders can camp in the Grand Canyon and in most areas of the state.

Considerations

Arizona can be extremely hot in the summer months. Camping and riding is dangerous when you are dehydrated. Carry extra water and map a route with regular stops to rehydrate and cool down.
