Philadelphia Cancer Society Bike Race
The American Cancer Society sponsors an annual bike race that increases awareness and raises money for cancer research. Media outlets are in attendance and all participants are encouraged to raise money for the event. The American Cancer Society was scheduled to host its 38th Annual Bike-a-thon on July 11, 2010.

Types

Individuals and teams can register to participate in the American Cancer Society Bike-a-thon Philadelphia.

Benefits

A registration fee is require for participation, but this fee is 100 percent tax deductible.

Size

The route contains well-stocked rest stops every 12 to 18 miles. You can register for bus service from the ending point of the race back to the starting point. The complete course is 66 miles.

Warning

According to rules and regulations, all participants must wear a helmet.

Considerations

Road bikes as well we mountain bikes can be used during the race, but the American Cancer Society encourages cycling riding a mountain bike to fit it with road tires.

Fun Fact

A participant can raise money for the event by encouraging individuals and businesses to make donations or sponsor cyclists they know who are participating in the race.
