Penn's 500 reel, also known as the Jigmaster, is one of Penn's most popular reels. First released in 1958, the Jigmaster is also one of Penn's longest-running reels, thanks to its durability, strength and versatility.

Durability

The Jigmaster is ideal for saltwater fishing, with its anti-corrosive chrome plated external components and marine-grade bronze main gear.

Strength

The Jigmaster's bronze main gear, stainless steel pinion and Ht-100 Drag System provide strength when reeling in fish.

Versatility

The Jigmaster's body can be easily and quickly dismantled to change spools and line weights for effective fishing in differing conditions.

Where to Buy

Penn Jigmaster reels can be found at Cabelas.com and Amazon.com. Additional stores may be looked up on Penn's website.

Cost

As of 2010, Penn Jigmaster reels can generally be found online for between $65 and $80.
