History of Scott Mountain Bikes

The first full-suspension Scott mountain bike was shipped in 1992. The birth of the Scott brand was in 1958 when Ed Scott invented the first tapered aluminum ski pole, replacing bamboo and steel ski poles.

Aero Bar

In 1989, Scott introduced the aerodynamic handlebar. American Greg Lemond used this bar on his bicycle in the 1989 Tour de France, which he won.

Suspension

In 1991, Scott developed a unishock suspension that began to be used on mountain bikes. American Ruthie Matthes won the world championship using the unishock suspension system.

Carbon

In 1995, Scott introduced the first carbon-fiber mountain bike.

Light

In 1998, Scott introduced the G-Zero, the lightest full-suspension mountain bike in the world.

Road Bike

Scott also produces road bikes. In 2001, one of its road bike frames weighed less than 1kg, the lightest worldwide.

Fifty Years

In 2008, Scott celebrated its 50th year of commitment to progressing sports.
