Beaches
For a sunny European beach vacation, consider traveling to places such as Greece or Spain in May, June or September. July and August tend to be particularly hot and crowded.
Skiing
If your trip involves some time on the slopes, ski season in Europe runs from about mid-December to March. The resorts are busiest during the school holidays, around Christmas and Easter.
Cities
If your ideal vacation in Europe is exploring cities like Paris, Rome and London, consider traveling in the spring. Tickets are cheaper in spring than summer, and temperatures are usually quite comfortable.
Flowers & Gardens
Europe is filled with exceptional gardens, such as the many chateau gardens in France. Spring and summer is often the best time to visit these gardens. But if you want to see the tulips bloom in the Netherlands, go in April or May.
Winter Markets
If your travels to Europe happen to be in December, be sure to visit some of the many Christmas fairs and markets around eastern and central Europe. These markets typically start during the last week of November, with some, like the markets in Berlin, running through the end of December.
