How Long Does it Take to Receive a Visa to the UK?
Anyone traveling to the U.K. and staying longer than 90 days must apply for a visa to legally stay in the United Kingdom. Once the application process is complete, it shouldn't take long for you to receive your visa.

24 Hours

Those who have all the necessary paper work and identification for their visa to stay in the United Kingdom may see their visa as soon as 24 hours upon application. According to the UK Border Agency this is the case 90 percent of the time.

Problems

If an interview is needed to process the applicant's visa, the process can take up to 15 business days.

Countries

Depending on what country you are applying from for a visa in the United Kingdom, the wait time may be different. For example those applying from Belgium generally will receive their visa acceptance within two days 90 percent of the time.

Application

You can apply for a visa in the UK three months in advance. It is best to apply as soon as possible in case there are any problems during the process.

Types

There are different types of visas for travel in the UK. Depending on if you are there on business, for school, volunteering or employment you will need to apply for a different type of visa with different documents. Generally those who are applying for work visas are more likely to wait an extra day for approval.
