North Carolina is the home of the Wright Brothers National Memorial at Kittyhawk, the Great Smokey Mountains, the Blue Ridge National Parkway and many other attractions ideal for outdoor enthusiasts. There are a wide variety of places to stay that offer different advantages for nature lovers.

Activities

Activities available at many resorts include year-round golfing, fresh and salt water fishing, and hunting. Mountain resorts also offer skiing.

The Triangle

There are many resorts located within "The Triangle" of Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, which form a triangle on the North Carolina map. Sports fans will be right near the Raleigh Entertainment and Sports Arena, which is home of Carolina Hurricanes hockey team and the N.C. State basketball team.

Golf School

The Dana Ryder Golf School is located at the Ballantyne Resort in Charlotte and is ideal for golf enthusiasts to improve their game. The resort is 18 miles from Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.

Luminaries

Ten US presidents have stayed at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa in Asheville. The resort is part of the National Register of Historic Places.

Winter Sports

The Sugar Mountain Resort is the largest winter resort in North Carolina. Located in Banner Elk, the resort offers skiing, tubing, snowboarding, ice skating and snowshoeing across 115 acres and 20 trails.
