How Long for a Vietnam Visa?

How Long for a Vietnam Visa?
There are different types of Visas issued to the country of Vietnam depending on the nature of your trip. Each have a specified length of time you are allowed to remain in the country. The time limit starts upon entry, and can be extended in certain situations.

Processing Time

Once the embassy has received your application, it should be processed in five business days. You can also pay a fee to have the service expedited, cutting the time to two days.

Tourist

These are usually given as single entry for up to one month, though it is possible to get a multiple entry visa. If you would like to extend your stay, apply for an extension once you are in Vietnam.

Business

These are issued for three months, six months or even one year if you are given special permission. They can be single entry or multiple entry but most fall into the latter category.

Diplomatic and Official

These visas will be free and the length can vary depending on the nature of you visit. You will need an official letter from the U.S. agency or international organization that is backing your special request.

Student

Your institution in Vietnam can arrange a student visa to cover the length of your education. Often you will be issued a six month tourist visa prior to arrival, and from there can arrange to extend your stay.
