Interesting Facts About Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Ocho Rios, Jamaica, sits along the northern coast of Jamaica. Ocho Rios, which in Spanish means "eight rivers," attracts vacationers worldwide for the variety of activities and adventures it has to offer.

Marine Attractions

Dolphin Cove, located in Ocho Rios, is Jamaica's No. 1 marine attraction. Visitors are able swim and interact with dolphins, sharks and stingrays. Glass-bottom kayaking and world renowned white-sand beaches are also available at Dolphin Cove.

Waterfall Adventures

Ocho Rios's most popular tourist attraction is the Dunn's River Falls Tour. The 600-foot waterfall allows visitors to swim under the falls, relax in the clear water and climb up the "water stairs" located on the side of the falls. The tour price is $12 to $15, depending on age.

Reggae Enthusiasts

Bob Marley's birthplace and burial place, located in the hills above Ocho Rios in the town of St. Ann, are open daily to the public at a cost of $15.

Prospect Plantation

Prospect Plantation has been a working plantation since 1936. Tours highlight the plantation's rich history. Bananas, cassava, sugarcane, coffee and allspice are grown on the 1,000-acre land. Tours cost $32 per person.

Green Grotto Cave

The Green Grotto Cave tour is an educational journey through the cave's large chambers that continue for great distances. The fee for this tour is $20 per person.
