Summer
Summers (December to February) are generally hot and dry, especially in the northern areas of the country near Darwin and Cairns. The heat can be overwhelming in the north regions during this time, during which the southern third of the country experiences moderately warm weather.
Winter
The northern areas of the country are popular during Winter (June to August) when the southern third of Australia, including Sydney, becomes cool and cloudy.
Fall and Spring
During Fall and Spring, temperatures are mild in the south and very warm to the north. Clouds and sunshine alternate regularly during these seasons.
Humidity
Most of the country is dry for the majority of the year. The main exception is the northernmost part of the country, which experiences rain and thunderstorms in the summer and monsoons in November.
Dryness
The middle of the country is typically very dry, due to little rainfall and the intense sunlight heating the land surface.
Snow
Only the southernmost points of Australia receive snowfall in the winter, generally in high-altitude areas.
