Lake Louise is in Alberta, Canada. Its location boasts some of the most pristine mountainous views in the world. Lake Louise is not only a city, but it also is a Lake that has a variety of activities to do in and around the area.

History

Named the Jewel of the Canadian Rockies, Lake Louise casts an emerald glow that reflects from peaks of sun through the mountains. Lake Louise was originally names after the Princess Louise Carolina Alberta---daughter of Queen Victoria, the former queen of England.

Location

Lake Louise is nestled below the Canadian Rockies in the heart of Alberta. The large Victoria Glacier and the Great Divide also border the Lake. Swimming and fishing in and around the lake area are common activities throughout spring, summer and fall.

Hiking

Hiking is prevalent throughout Lake Louise and the surrounding areas. There are several planned tours and guides available, or hiking can be self-guided.

Skiing

Skiing is a popular sport in the winter months. The Lake Louise Ski Resort has fresh powder and also maintains a steady snow to meet customer demand.

Backcountry Camping

Backcountry camping is a popular activity among outdoor enthusiasts. Lightweight backpacking gear, tents and camping equipment should be brought along on the excursion. Backcountry camping can be conducted at designated locations throughout the Lake Louise area.
