Owned by the city of Chicago, Midway International Airport is Illinois' second busiest airport after O'Hare International Airport, which is also in Chicago. Midway has become one of America's fastest-growing airports, according to IFly.com.

Location

Midway is 10 miles southwest of central Chicago. The downtown area can be reached in under 30 minutes by shuttle or CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) bus. An hourly shuttle also operates between Midway and O'Hare International Airport.

Usage

Nearly 20 million travelers currently use Midway (airport code MDW) each year, mainly within the United States. Midway's five runways see over 300,000 take-offs and landings annually.

Carriers

Airlines operating out of Midway include Southwest (with 215 daily departures), Air Tran, Delta, Frontier, Porter, and Northwest Airlines. Several corporate flight operators also offer services from Midway, according to the Chicago Airport System website.

Terminal

Midway's passenger terminal has three concourses, A, B and C. The terminal includes cafes, restaurants, news agents and gift shops. Concourse A features a sculpture commemorating WWII's Battle of Midway.

Services

Midway Airport services include baggage carts, Skycap service for individuals needing special assistance, banking/ATM services, a currency exchange, traveler's assistance, Internet access, a chapel, and accommodation for special needs. Both short- and long-term parking is available in a six-story parking garage.
