Cancun is a popular destination for beach-lovers, but is also has plenty of hiking, snorkeling and other outdoor activities for visitors to enjoy. This city caters to its many tourists with plenty of hotels, restaurants and nightclubs clustered in one central area.

Location

Cancun is located on the northern edge of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula. The city is right on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, providing the area with a significant amount of beachfront land.

Water Sports

Cancun's proximity to the ocean allows for a variety of water sports, including scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing and sailing. Many programs are available for visitors to swim with dolphins.

Outdoor Activities

Cancun is home to several natural preserves for hiking and camping. Ecological theme parks such as Xcaret offer the opportunity to see wildlife in its natural habitat. Some visitors tour the jungle via mountain bike or in an open-top vehicle.

Accommodations

Most hotels in Cancun are located in the "Hotel Zone," is a 17-mile stretch of land along the shore. For those looking for a more central location, the downtown area also has hotels.

Nightlife

Cancun is known for its vibrant nightlife which features nightclubs, bars, lounges and live music. Many of these hot spots are located in or near the Hotel Zone.

Transportation

Cancun has an international airport through which most visitors arrive and depart. Buses and taxis are utilized for transportation within the city.
