Ecotourism, also commonly referred to as sustainable tourism, is a manner of travel which reduces the impact on the environment. Earth conscious and responsible travel to natural attractions without destroying the habitat is the most common form of ecotourism.

Raising Awareness

Raising awareness about the environment and natural wonders of a particular area is the most pure form of ecotourism. The ecotourism experience creates an enhanced knowledge of a natural area, which proponents hope spurs a desire to protect and sustain the environment.

Ecotourism Activities

Ecotourism activities range from a quiet walk on a wooded path to exploring the Amazon by raft. Electronic vehicles are not used when touring or exploring a natural area

Econimic Benefits

Ecotourism travel has an economical benefit, in addition to the goal of preservation. Rural areas have blossomed as ecotourists discover natural wonders outside of major tourist attraction areas. Campground, cabin operators, grocery stores and gas stations all benefit from environmental tours.

Job Creation

Jobs created in rural or economically deprived areas to serve ecotravelers help reduce the poverty rate in otherwise deprived communities.

Cultural Awareness

Bridging geographic differences and increasing cultural awareness is a positive side effect of expanding ecotourism into remote and rural areas across the globe.
