Normandy, France is a region in the northern part of the country with 360 miles of beautiful coastline and lush, green countryside. The Normandy beaches are the site of the largest military landing in history on June 6, 1944, known as D-Day. The combination of seaside and farmland provide a variety of activities for the outdoor enthusiast, such as hiking, kayaking, fishing and golf.

Normandy Landing Beaches

The top tourist attractions in Normandy are the landing beaches, museums and memorials commemorating D-Day. Start your tour of the beaches in the small village of Bayeux, home of the famous Bayeux Tapestry. Visit the Caen Memorial for its special exhibits on World War II.

Giverny

Giverny was the home of French impressionist Claude Monet. You can tour Monet's house and gardens, which were the inspiration for his famous paintings of waterlilies.

Rouen

The historical city of Rouen, located on the River Seine, is the location of many museums and magnificent churches, including the Gothic Cathedral of Notre Dame. Joan of Arc and William the Conqueror both died in Rouen.

Deauville

The coastal resort town of Deauville offers luxury hotels, golf courses, casinos, horse racing and polo grounds. Sailing is a popular sport and Deauville hosts many international sailing races. Hollywood celebrities visit Deauville annually for the American Film Festival.

Dieppe/Fecamp/Etretat

Pebble beaches and scenic white cliffs dot the landscape between the seaside villages of Dieppe, Fecamp and Etretat. Dieppe is the oldest maritime resort in France and the location of a 15th century castle. Fecamp is known for its boating marina and Benedictine museum.
