Pocahontas State Park in Virginia
Just 20 miles from Richmond, Virginia, Pocahontas State Park is a popular summer vacation destination where travelers can enjoy the Swift River Reservoir and Beaver Lake.

Location

The park is located in Chesterfield County. You can get there via Interstate 95, Route 360 or Route 288.

Camping

There are group cabins and campsites with hookups available by reservation. Call (800) 933-PARK to get current rates or to reserve overnight facilities.

Swimming

Swim season is between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The Pool and Aquatic Recreation Center opens daily during this season at 10 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. Swimming fees are required.

Trails

There are numerous trails for biking, hiking and horseback riding (bring your own horse) around Beaver Lake and through the surrounding wooded areas.

Activities

Pocahontas State Park offers fishing, boating and hunting opportunities

Facilities

Boat rental and a snack bar operate during the summer. There are coin-operated laundry machines and a souvenir shop year-round.
