In December 2009, Royal Caribbean will launch the 16-deck Oasis of the Seas, the biggest cruise ship in the world.

Size

The Oasis of the Seas features 16 decks and weighs 225,282 tons. It carries 5,400 guests in 2,700 staterooms.

Features

The biggest cruise ship in the world has seven different themed areas: Central Park, with nearly 12,000 plants; the Boardwalk; the Royal Promenade; the Pool and Sports Zone; Vitality at Sea Spa and Fitness Center; Entertainment Place; and the Youth Zone. It also has four pools, an amphitheater and an ice skating rink.

Rooms

Guests can pick from 37 different room styles, including loft suites with floor-to-ceiling windows.

Restaurants and Shops

There are 13 shops and 24 restaurants aboard the Oasis of the Seas.

Cost

The biggest cruise ship in the world was built in Turku, Finland, at a reported cost of $1.4 billion. The ship will sail from her home port of Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
