History
The Oakland Flower Market (Piazza International Floral LLC) was originally known as L. Piazza Wholesale. Established in 1926, the company was owned by an Italian family who grew roses in San Leandro. It existed as a wholesale-only establishment until being purchased in 1997, when it was opened to the general public.
Present Day Operations
The Oakland Flower Market is open to the general public Mondays to Fridays from 6:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Fresh Cut Flowers
Presently, the Oakland Flower Market offers over 50 varieties of fresh cut flowers each week, including roses, tulips, carnations, orchids, freesias, tropicals, lilies, gladioli, snapdragons, liatris and matsumoto asters.
Greenery
Since opening to the public, the Oakland Flower Market also supplies greenery such as leatherleaf, tree ferns, plumosa, lily grass, aspidistra, coffee, baby euc, green pitt,
italian ruscus and isralie ruscus.
Additional Offerings
The Oakland Flower Market also offers vases, cellophane and other supplies ranging from ribbons to candy to assistance in making flower arrangements.
