Mesa, Arizona is located 248 miles from the world famous Grand Canyon, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts and other visitors who are seeking to explore everything the area has to offer.

Location

Mesa, located just outside Phoenix, is fairly close to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, where some of the most scenic areas can be viewed. It's proximity makes it a great option for visitors to begin their Grand Canyon experience.

Types of Tours

There are two main types of tours leaving Mesa and journeying to the Grand Canyon. Visitors can travel to the Grand Canyon either on a guided tour by helicopter or on the ground by bus.

Helicopter Tours

Helicopter tours can involve either a small group or can be private. These are guided tours that leave from Mesa and fly visitors over the Grand Canyon, landing at various spots to allow guests to explore and have lunch in the canyon.

Bus Tours

Bus or van tours will involve a larger group of people and typically take more time than a helicopter tour. Visitors traveling by bus are allowed several hours to explore the Grand Canyon on their own or may take advantage of guided tours.

Steamboat

A unique way to tour the Grand Canyon is by steamboat. The tour leaves from just outside Mesa and takes a short tour along the Superstition Mountains on Canyon Lake.
