Security
TSA regulations require you to scan all baggage, including child seats. If children can walk, they will be asked to go through the metal detector alone.
Liquids
Always make sure to have extra formula, baby food and other necessities in case of delays. Liquids such as formula and medication are allowed in excess of 3 ounces, but must be inspected.
Travel Seats
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), children in airplanes are safest in child restraint systems (CRS), not on an adult's lap. Airlines may be able to provide CRS if notified ahead of time.
Health and Safety
Small children dehydrate easily; be sure ask for extra water or juice, especially if traveling on a long flight, or if a delay occurs. Drinking or chewing on candy can help prevent the discomfort of ears popping due to pressure changes.
Flying Alone
There is no federal regulation for what age a minor can fly unaccompanied; each airline has its own rules and should be contacted separately. Children under 18 do not usually need identification to fly.
