Requirements

Driver's licenses issued by a member state of the European Union, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland are valid in the Netherlands. Drivers from other countries are advised to have an international driving permit. The minimum age to rent a car in Delft is 21 to 23 years, depending on the car rental company.

Terms and Rates

Daily and weekly rates are available through most companies. Rates usually include unlimited mileage and some include insurance. As of October 2009, Delft car rental daily rates start at $40 to $60 for compact cars. Additional insurance can be purchased.

Possible Drives

Many side trips are possible from Delft. The royal city of The Hague is only an 8-mile drive away. The cheese town of Gouda is 20 miles away and the Netherlands' capital, Amsterdam, is a 37-mile drive from Delft.

Considerations

Delft is well-served by public transportation. Parking in the inner city is available for a fee.
