Passport Agency

Los Angeles is one of 14 cities in the country with a Bureau of Consumer Affairs Passport Agency. There you can apply for your passport with a minimal waiting time of about two weeks. To work with the agency, you must make an appointment by calling 1-877-487-2778.

Post Office

In Los Angeles and other cities, the post office is the most common place to obtain a passport. Unfortunately, not all post offices have passport application centers, so check the post office's website to see which location near you offers these services.

Recorder's Office

The Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's office can accept your passport documents, review your ID cards and take your passport photo.

Private Companies

Many private companies in Los Angeles and other cities offer expedited passport services. However, you are still required to visit a government agency in person to have your identification reviewed.

Renewing Your Passport

If you are renewing your passport, you do not need to visit a government location in person. You just need to mail in your application documents.
