Canadian Visa Requirements

Canadian Visa Requirements
Depending on their country of origin and how long they intend to stay in Canada, some visitors to Canada must apply for a visa. The Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) website provides information on who must apply, and how.

Travel Document

You must have a passport or other current travel document to apply for a Canadian visa.

Health

You should be in good health to apply for a Canadian visa. Exceptions may apply (see Resources).

Show That You're Just Visiting

You must show that you are just visiting Canada temporarily. Showing that you have a job, family or other ties to your home country will help to convince immigration authorities that you plan to return to your country of origin.

Finances

You must provide evidence that you have enough money for your stay in Canada. The amount of money you should have will vary depending on how long you plan to stay and how much your living arrangements will cost.

Other Possible Requirements

Residents of some countries may need to have a temporary resident visa, a medical examination and a letter of invitation from a Canadian citizen before traveling to Canada.

Visa Fees

You must pay $75 for a single-entry visa or $150 for a multiple-entry visa. You can also get a family visa for $400.
