Grand Canyon Sightseeing Tours

Grand Canyon Sightseeing Tours
Perhaps one of North America's most famous landmarks, the Grand Canyon is also one of its favorite tourist spots. Covering over 1,700 square miles, the Grand Canyon has endless sightseeing opportunities.

History

The Grand Canyon's first inhabitants were believed to have arrived more than 4,000 years ago. Since then, the Grand Canyon has been home to many cultures and a place of great spiritual importance.

Types

There are a number of tour companies that operate different types of activities in and around the Grand Canyon. From hiking the many trails in the park to rafting the Colorado River, almost every outdoor sightseeing activity is catered for.

Tour Companies

Pygmy Guides do a variety of hiking packages ranging from easy to moderate day hikes to overnight packages for the more adventurous. For more comprehensive trips, the Grand Canyon Expeditions Company arranges 8- to 16-day group rafting trips along the Colorado River and through the Grand Canyon National Park.

Cost

Depending on what your preference is, the sightseeing tours can vary greatly in price. Day hikes can start at around $159 with a guide and equipment, going up to around $2,500 for an all-inclusive rafting holiday.

Time Frame

Most tour companies operate between the spring and summer months, starting in May and usually ending their season at the end of September.
