Frequent Flyer Information for Qantas Airways

Frequent Flyer Information for Qantas Airways
Founded in 1920, Australian-based Qantas Airways is the world's second oldest airline. In 2004, it launched Jetstar Airways, a low-cost, no-frills airline that primarily services Australia and Asia. Both airlines offer frequent flyer miles through Qantas' frequent flyer program.

Earning Miles

One frequent flyer mile or point is earned for every mile flown. Miles may also be earned while flying on partner airlines, renting cars through partner rental agencies, staying at certain hotels or purchasing products from partner companies. The rate of points earned for non-airline travel will differ with each partner program.

Redeeming Miles

Miles can be redeemed for flights on Qantas, Jetstar or partner airlines. The number of miles necessary for specific flight segments or dates will depend on season, seat class and seat availability. Miles earned may also be used for class upgrades or to purchase goods available through Qantas' store or partners.

Partner Airlines

Qantas partners with airlines that are part of the oneworld alliance. The airlines include American Airlines®, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, Japan Airlines, LAN, Malév Hungarian Airlines and Royal Jordanian

Minimum Points Earned Per Flight

Qantas awards a minimum of 1,000 miles for all economy flights, even those with less than 1,000 miles in flight distance. The minimum is 1,250 for business or first class tickets.

Membership Fee

There is no membership fee for non-residents of Australia and New Zealand. Residents of Australia and New Zealand must pay one-time membership fees of A$82.50 and NZ$50, respectively.
