Five Friends
In 1952, five friends who were Seattle businessmen and shared a passion for fishing started a new fishing rod company near Kent, Washington.
Fiberglass
The first Fenwick fishing rods were made with the fiberglass blanks that were becoming popular with fishermen.
Lake Fenwick
The friends used a vacant garage near Lake Fenwick to develop their early fishing rods, and decided to adopt Fenwick as the brand name for their rods.
The Clock Family
In the 1960s, the Clock family bought Fenwick. Recognizing the popularity of competitive bass fishing, the company reorganized and offered the first fishing rods designed for bass fishermen.
Moving Forward
In the 1970s, Fenwick seized the opportunity to manufacture fishing rods with graphite. This new material was light and strong, and Fenwick began producing species-specific fishing rods.
Fenwick Today
Today, you can buy a Fenwick fishing rod for any type of fishing, priced from $59 to $240 as of 2009.
