Prohibited Items

While sharp objects, sporting equipment, and even guns and firearms can be packed in checked luggage (pending adherence to firearm and ammunition guidelines), flammable or explosive materials are not allowed.

Luggage Locks

All luggage is screened electronically when checked. Occasionally, luggage must be physically inspected. Avoid a cut lock by purchasing specialty airline locks that can be opened by official "master" keys.

Organization

Avoid overpacking so items don't spill. Spread out books and documents across luggage. Place footwear on top of luggage to avoid damage. Place liquids, gels and aerosols in plastic containers to avoid spills.

Carry-On

Film, food, laptop or other electronics, jewelry, cash and fragile items are best carried on.

Inspection

Prepare checked belongings for possible inspection. To avoid personal items being handled by inspectors, place them in clear, plastic bags. Do not wrap gifts. Sometimes wrapped gifts must be opened and inspected.
