China is one of the world's largest countries with many different facets to it. It is now easier than ever before to journey in China, and although it is emerging as one the world's most powerful countries, it is still a relatively cheap place to travel.

Types of Travel

Throughout China there are numerous modes of transport, both citywide and nationwide. Within the cities there are comprehensive bus routes, taxis and bike rental, while the best way to traverse the country is by train or plane.

Cost

The average domestic plane ticket in China costs between $150 to $400, depending on where you are flying to. Trains are a slightly cheaper option, ranging from $90 to $270. Travel within the cities costs on average $1 to$3 for buses and $5 to $8 for taxis.

Size

China is an immense country and most cross-country travel will involve many hours. For example, a train journey from Beijing to Xi'an is approximately 13 hours.

Booking travel tickets for China is a straightforward process. Almost all types of tickets can be reserved online.

Although most travel in China is relatively cheap, prices can fluctuate. Research the costs thoroughly before booking.
