Description

Exped SynMat UL 7 Air Pad

The Exped Synmat UL 7 air pad provides refuge from the cold, hard ground. It features an ultra lightweight design and packs down to the size of a half-liter water bottle. Lofted microfiber insulation is laminated to the top and bottom of the inner walls, providing efficient 4-season warmth. Baffled chambers evenly distribute insulation, eliminating cold spots. Mat can be inflated by mouth; features 2 wide, low-profile, FlatValves for inflation and deflation. Intake valve features a built-in flap to prevent air escaping when inflating; flap can be released to let a little air out when seeking out that ideal comfort zone. Polyester fabric is UV- and abrasion-resistant; non-slip finish helps keep you on the pad. Welded seams create airtight construction. The Exped Synmat UL 7 air pad comes with its own stuff sack for protection during transportation. Also includes repair kit with adhesive and fabric patches.

Excellent alternative to Neoair

This pad is awesome! I am not in constant fear of it popping like I feel with the neoair and it is far less noisy. It does not sound like a bag of potato chips being opened every time you think about moving. It comes with its own stuff sack as well.

Initial impressions

My initial impressions on unpacking it were that it's light, packs small, and has a non slip surface to keep me on the mat at night. It weighs half a pound less than my old 3/4 length Packm@, with more thickness and tons more comfort. Inflating and deflating were a little unusual to me at first but easy to figure out. Lying on it feels closer to a real bed than anything I've used in the field before. It seems well thought out and comes with the stuff sack and repair kit, and even has a place built into the mat to attach the stuff sack with a cord if you decide to use it as a pillow.I'm heading out to the trail in 2 weeks and I'll repost how it does and if there seem to be any problems with durability. I'm hoping for my first night of decent sleep after a long hike.
