Exped Pillow Pump

I purchased the Exped Synmat UL 7 recently and wondered about the flat valves, one to inflate, and one to deflate. Then I discovered this pillow / pump combination that attaches directly to the inflate valve and allows you to simply press or step on the foam filled pillow and fill the mat quickly and easily.The pump works great. Pull it out of its stuff bag. Open the valve and let it sit for a couple minutes to let the inner core foam expand. Then simply attach to the inflate valve and push up and own by hand or foot. Perfect and easy.But the real surprise was how comfortable the pillow was. I've tried inflatable pillows before and found them to be like sleeping on a balloon. This is exactly the opposite. There is a solid sponge foam core, and by putting just a small breath of air into the pillow it becomes the perfect firmness without feeling like a balloon, or a bunch of recycled foam, or a puff of down feathers that squish to oblivion. Definitely will find a place in my pack anytime I go out with my Synmat UL mat. The 6 oz is a fair trade off for the ease of inflation and the comfort of the pillow. Doing dual duty at the weight of a small pillow is a fine example of creative work from Exped.
