Sanibel, FL Attractions
Area Attractions
— Sanibel-Captiva Road, known locally as San-Cap, passes by most of Sanibel*s natural attractions- J.N. *Ding* Darling National Wildlife Refuge, Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation Center, the Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum, and the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (C.R.O.W.) facility. Captiva Island is connected to its sister island by a bridge at the end of San-Cap Road. Casual is the fashion of the day - and night. The easy-going island lifestyle translates to informal attire. Shorts and sandals is the accepted *island uniform.* You may want something slightly dressier for theater events and dinner. Retail establishments generally request attire that includes shirts and shoes. Plan for sunshine. Our winters are mild (average daytime temperatures in the 70s and 80s) and dry (it rains just enough to keep our islands lush). Summer temperatures, ranging from the 80s to low 90s, are tempered by cooling sea breezes and brief afternoon showers, followed by more sunshine and glorious sunsets. Pack hats to shade your face and head, shorts, swimsuits, sunglasses, cover-ups, t-shirts, and light collared shirts. In winter, slacks and a wrap will complete your vacation wardrobe.
