Great zip line pulley
This is the ultimate zip-line pulley. It's very intuitive and quick to release and it's very fast. The only item I would change is the plastic sections on the end (I think it would have been better if they had made those sections out of aluminum or removed them all together). In summary, if you enjoy making long zip lines, this product will not disappoint.

Not the best for zip lines
I have been using this on a 130' zip line with a brake block stopping system for about a week. The plastic end guards break off when they hit the break/stop block. Also the plastic guards are too big because cable apparently rubs on them at times (melting plastic). The pulleys are small - about an inch in diameter - and don't spin freely. This is fine if speed is not your concern. For small kids, no problem. Or if you just need a small portable easy to attach pulley, this is for you. The housing is made of aluminum which the cable is able to eat into when engaging my brake block system. This is due in part to the small pulleys and how close together they are. If your zip line allows you to stop without a braking system, then these may not be issues for you. There are better pulleys for the price if you want speed and durability though. REI just doesn't currently carry them. I will probably keep this for a back-up and get a better one elsewhere. This design is patented so you won't find others with the same features, which is a shame, because I really like the quick release on it. I tried dealing with CAMP - the manufacturer - but they don't return e-mail (at least in two weeks) and by phone I didn't find anyone with useful information - when I could get anyone to answer.
