Love these boots

I picked these up at the Spokane REI last month. Hiked up Mt St Helens 8/5 and Mt Adams (South Spur) 8/8 - NO BLISTERS! Very comfortable and light. Given the limited break-in (a couple of 3 mile hikes and wearing around the house for a few days), I was expecting some problems, but I found them very comfortable in rock and ash scrambling. I love these boots and will recommend them to my friends

The perfect boot for me

This is my second pair of these boots. The first ones lasted for about 500 miles of hiking/backpacking. I estimate that I will have to put about 30-50 miles on the new ones before they are ready for a long excursion. They are comfortable right out of the box but they get better with time. They have always kept my feet warm and dry from desert hiking to snow camping. They are everything a light weight hiking boot should be.

Lovin' the Fugitives!

I'm loving these Fugitives. I tried the Salomon Quests because everyone seemed to love them so much, but they were incredibly uncomfortable for me. Fugitives were good to go. Totally waterproof after standing in a creek completely submerged, great traction, attractive look (not that that matters but), and durable. The option to buy "wide" or not is wonderful - I have narrow feet so I didn't need the wides, but the Quests didn't have an option and they were definitely too wide for me. Really happy I returned the Quests and went with these (but would suggest as with any shoe/boot to try them all on in store and compare. I bo

Hike Like A Mountain Goat!

The incredible fit and traction made me feel like a mountain goal hiking in these boots. All this and absolutely no break-in time!

Solid, snug, need to break in and adjust

My work with these boots so far has been on 3 rugged day hikes (each carrying moderate packs of 20-45lbs on trails with significant grade, even stair-stepping). I can't say they've been completely broken in yet. However, relative to other boots I've worn, I think I have a decent idea how they compare, and I think these are going to work well. It seems like it is going to be important to change my lacing between days primarily uphill vs downhill. A tight fit for downhill, to provide good space to protect my toes, tends to bind my heel into the heel cup on uphill sections, causing extra friction. This may just be stiffness that will work out over time, but the boot generally feels more stiff than others. That stiffness is a good thing in my case, what with years and wear-and-tear, because my ankles need a bit more protection when

Positive Performance

I bought the boots and climbed Mt. Marcy in NY without breaking them in. Going up I had no problem. Coming down my foot slid forward a bit and put a lot of pressure on my toes. However, other than being uncomfortable, it wasn't a problem. The boot was a little warmer than what I'm used to but was fine. Mt. Marcy trail was a sloppy, wet 12 mile mess. This boot kept my feet dry.

Great right out of the box

The boots had a great feel right out of the box. They were comfortable, supportive and the traction was exactly what I was looking for

Awesome boots- if you have narrow feet

These boots seemed extremely comfortable when tried on at the store but a little less comfortable when walking around. Took them home and tried them around the house a few times and decided they were just going to be too tight in the toebox for any serious use. Construction appears exceptional and I am sure that they are great- if

These are MY boots

Let me preface this review by saying, these boots are perfect for my feet so... This is the third pair of Fugitives that I have bought. As soon as I pulled on that first pair, I knew these were The Ones. For me- They provide just enough traction and stability. I can hike with them righ

Flashy style that hikes fine

I had great ambitions to break these in "proper" but in the end I just wore them on a day hike. Sure enough, steep terrain, I got blisters, my bad. Second outing though and these were feeling comfortable. Third outing was an overnight backpack, rather moderate climb/descent but the boots feel fine. Only complaint is these get rather hot after a few m

Awesome go-to boot

I bought this boot after about two weeks of research, and trying on 4-5 other pairs. I kept coming back to this boot because it's been around awhile, has good ratings from a large number of people, and is a cross between a hiking boo

Love these boots

Very happy with these boots. Support is good and I've found the traction in Adirondack mud and boulders to be top notch. I have a torn Meniscus in my left knee and it actually bothered me less with these boots on even with a 30 Lb load in my backpack.

Solid, solid boot!

This was my second pair of boots, after returning my Salewa Alps Trainers (great boot, just didn't fit my foot), needless to say, I was very impressed! Very comfortable, waterproof and durable. While they are not the lightest, the amount of support and durability they provide is worth the few extra ounces (my packweight is 35lbs and up). Just like any other boot, certain ones fit certain feet, just be sure to include this in the list of those you try on. Plus, who doesn't like the rugged, classic styling?

Nice boots

I've had these for over a year now with no complaints. Followed a break in routine and never had a blister. In my area, it is rife with a lot of ankle twisting rocks (golfball to baseball size) and these puppies have saved my ankles way more than a few times. Nice stable platform.

Excellent hiking boot

When I first bought this boot I thought it was a bit stiff. With any really good boot they star
