The Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) was founded in 1876 and is America's oldest conservation and recreation organization. The Appalachian Mountain Club promotes the enjoyment, protection, and wise use of the mountains, rivers, and trails of the Appalachian region. In addition to serving its members, the Appalachian Mountain Club is also a successful publisher of guidebooks, how-to books and narratives.
