Rocking Chair

I fortunately didn't buy this product, in fact my boyfriend's mom got it on accident. She meant to buy 2 of the Mayfly chairs that had the 4 pegs on the ground and was a little surprised when we got to our camp spot. We tried it out but this thing is going back. It is pretty useless if you are on a slope because you have to balance and feels like you are going to fall back. My boyfriend sat in it and fell right out of it while trying to get out. It was pretty funny honestly. Definitely not a good design, yes it is light weight but when I want to rest my bum I don't want to think about balancing the whole time.

Not a bad backpacking seat.

The chair is light (which was important for 6 days of backpacking in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming) and pretty easy to set up. The biggest problem I had with this chair was that to sit in it you have to balance with your legs in order to sit up. If your legs have turned to noodles from lugging a 50 pound pack up steep trailsat 10,000 ft elevation it can be a little more effort than you want to

Very happy - better than I expected

I bought this chair for a 10 day backpacking trip, and overall it worked great. It was well worth the small investment.I'm 6'3, 245 lbs, so I'm at the top of the size range for the chair, but I didn't have any issues with capacity or stability, and never felt like the chair was going to collapse on me.If you are worried about the need to balance the chair, don't be. After a few uses the balance becomes completely 2nd nature. I didn't even think about having to balance, and this gave me a great chance to rest my back.Good product, very happy overall.

Comfy chair

I've used this chair in the past, very comfortable, though it is rather heavy and bulky for the minimalist. That said I would not recommend setting it up in sandy areas, tends to sink and not be of much use. This is best for those shorter hikes where it is more feasible to bring in creature comforts.

REALLY cool take anywhere rocking chair

This chair seems kind of awkward at first, but I got used to it quickly, and it's merits definitely shine over other "backpacking" chairs. Really, this is the only chair that is both light and small enough to even consider putting in a pack full of necessary gear. It does cross the line of minimalist/comfort driven in the obvious direction, how

Great chair

So, I went into REI on my way to Desolation Wilderness for an overnighter - I needed a lightweight pullover for the evening as I forgot mine. I looked around and thought I'd get one of those chairs you make out of the sleeping pad. I then saw the Butterfly Chair. It was fairly lightweight a

Excellent backpacking chair

This is my one luxury item I take on backpacking trips. It only takes a couple of tries to get the hang of sitting down in it and staying balanced. You can also use your pack or a log under your legs and no balancing is needed. This chair allows me to sit and let my back relax. Much more comfortable than sitting on the ground or a stump. It only weighs 18 oz. & packs small. It is definitely worth carrying it for me.

Requires good balance!

Being able to lean back and relax on a multi-day backpacking trip really appealed to me, even though it meant carrying an extra 16 oz. This chair has only two legs, and is a few oz lighter than the version with four legs. It also seats you a couple of inches higher than the four-leg chair, which I liked. I really wanted to love this chair, but I found it uncomfortable because I had to balance all the time. Could not just relax. Also, I could not comfortably eat a meal while sitting in it. I am sending it back and getting the four-leg version, even though it is a bit heavier and

Excellent after practice

Found one at an attic sale and thought it was ridiculous and why would anyone want a 2 legged chair? After playing with it for a while, and laughing with the kids, it then became a staple chair in our family room. Once you get used to the 2 legged chair thing, it's really quite comfortable. The size and weight makes it backpacker-friendly. I actually bought one full price for my husband for our backpacking trip

comfy!

i bought 2 of these chairs and love them. my only concern is durability. one of the pole holders "blew out" after a 200lb friend used it. REI replaced it no questions asked. next, the bungee broke. that was easy to fix by replacing the bungee. i use it to travel with (flew to cabo with it twice). it's also a great beach chair; whether i'm taking a plane or my bicycle to the beach. i sat on the top of half dome drinking beer in it last summer! it's way lighter than carrying beer...but not as tasty!

Pretty much the perfect compact chair

I originally bought this for backpacking, but ended up bringing it along even on day hikes due to its inconspicuous weight. The design makes it very comfortable, and a lot of fun to sit in.
