About Alaska
Alaska (AK)
is nicknamed "The Last Frontier" and has a land area of 571,951 square miles which makes it the largest state in the U.S. by far (more than twice as large as Texas, which is #2). Its largest city is Anchorage, the capital city is Juneau, and its highest point is Mount McKinley (Denali) at 20,320 feet, also the highest point in North America. Alaska joined the Union in 1959 as the 49th state,
and is blessed with many great trails,
including Harding Icefield Trail, Kesugi Ridge Trail
and Resurrection Pass Trail.
